About Me

I have been teaching in colleges for the last 20 years and students either call me, Dr. Beale, the sexuality professor (if they forgot my name), the sex goddess, or my all time favorite - "The Steve Irwin of Vaginas!" So, it seemed appropriate to have a place where "the sexuality professor" could give information about sex and relationships to whoever wanted it. 

In my teaching evaluations, the comments that I get most often are that I am passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and that I truly care about my students. It makes me so happy to know that my students pick up on what is absolutely true about me - I DO care about my students and I AM passionate about giving them good information, so that they can make the best choices for them! 

In 2006, I graduated from North Carolina State University with a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology. Since then, I have gained additional certifications focused on how we develop sexually. I am a certified Sex Educator through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and serve as a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS). I am also a certified facilitator of Revealed: Uncovering your Sexual Stories by Dr. Juliana Hauser and have been trained by Betty Dodson and Carlin Ross to offer Bodysex Workshops. 

My newest venture is a course, in collaboration with Dr. Juliana, focused on how we think about and treat our bodies. It is called Radical: A New Relationship with your Body and I'm so excited to bring it to you!
